Consultant Ophthalmologist
Dr Muhammad Syamil Mohamad Salmi is a Consultant Ophthalmologist with over 10 years of experience in comprehensive ophthalmic care, having served in both government and private healthcare institutions in Malaysia. He is recognised for his structured clinical assessments, clear communication, and strong commitment to delivering ethical, evidence-based eye care.
He obtained his medical degree from the Jordan University of Science & Technology in 2011 and completed his specialist training in Ophthalmology at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 2020. His international medical education, combined with rigorous local specialist training, has shaped a balanced and contemporary approach to modern ophthalmology.
Dr Syamil manages a wide range of eye conditions, with clinical interests including general ophthalmology, cataract evaluation and surgery with personalised intraocular lens selection, glaucoma assessment and long-term management, diabetic eye disease, neuro-ophthalmology, dry eye disease, and oculoplastic eyelid conditions. His practice emphasises early detection, continuous monitoring, and preservation of visual function to support long-term eye health.
A member of the Malaysian Society of Ophthalmology, Dr Syamil is also a recipient of the Excellent Service Award from Universiti Putra Malaysia (2022) and has been involved in multiple national and international research projects. He actively contributes to medical education, professional training, and public eye health awareness, while supporting community eye screening initiatives for underserved populations.
